Week at a Glance

what are we even doing here?

Blue Ridge Fellows enjoy a schedule that is rich and varied. In any given week we will have conversations that are at turns theologically deep, intellectually challenging, and often surprising.

These conversations happen in any number of contexts, from the spectacular McAfee Knob (shown above) to a normal dinner to a campfire to our fellows' beloved r0undtable discussions. They might even happen during a roadtrip to the Washington, DC area, where a past class of fellows ran into (or perhaps more appropriately, sat on) Albert Einstein.

When we are not together as a class, fellows may be at work, at church, with their hosts or roommates, or pursuing opportunities to serve. Below is a typical weekly schedule for a fellow:

A weekly schedule chart showing church, youth group, work, round table, Bible study, and outdoor activities.

In a normal week, fellows work about 30 hours for their employer, between Monday and Thursday. We are together in the evenings on Tuesdays and Wednesday, and spend all day together on Fridays learning indoors or outdoors. Sunday mornings and evenings, fellows serve at Church of the Holy Spirit, working with the youth and internalizing the rhythms of life-long engagement in a local body of believers.

The schedule was carefully designed from the beginning, and has been further honed over the first decade of the program.
