Serve

from roanoke to the ends of the earth

Formation in Christ isn’t complete without action. That’s why serving is not an extracurricular, it’s part of the core DNA. From day one, Fellows enter into rhythms of giving their time, energy, and hearts to meet real needs in Roanoke. Whether that means discipling students, volunteering at nonprofits, or joining community clean-up efforts, fellows learn to see people not as projects, but as neighbors.

Service is how we teach—and learn—that love costs something. It’s how we learn that the kingdom of God moves in and through relationships, not solely programs. We partner with local ministries and nonprofits, showing up week after week in the same places, building trust and letting our roots grow deep in this community we call home.

Then, near the end of the program, we take what we've learned and carry it beyond our borders. Our international trip to Belize is not a mission trip in the traditional sense; it's a continuation of what we’ve been doing all year: listening, learning, showing up, and serving with humility. We go not as experts, but as fellow image-bearers of Jesus, eager to be stretched, challenged, and changed.

Because ultimately, serving isn’t just something we do during the program; it’s a posture we hope Fellows carry with them for life. It’s a way of living in the world that says, “I am not the center.” And from that place, true impact and influence begins.
